MTC Tankcontainers welcomes 30 college girls

This year the Dutch national expertise agency, the VHTO,  organized a technical summer camp at Shell Pernis for girls who are attending practical college (is VMBO in The Netherlands). During this camp these students get to know the petrochemical cluster in a playful way and meet women who work in technology.

MTC also contributes to this summer camp. On Thursday the 12th of July we gave these thirty girls a tour on the MTC depot and let them discover the world of tank containers. It was an afternoon with a lot of energy.

In addition to all the company visits, the girls are working on an “energy challenge”. This practical assignment has sustainability as its central theme with the main question “If you could win a million euros with a design to make your school more sustainable, what would you make?”

Eric van Halewijn, director of MTC: “It is extremely important that young girls come into contact with technology. The port of Rotterdam is often unknown territory for these students. Through this tour we want to introduce them in a practical way to the petrochemical cluster and the role of MTC in it.

On behalf of MTC Tankcontainers we thank all the girls for their visit and wish them every success with their career choice!”
